## History and identity Founded in **2018** by **Françoise and Daniel Aron**, the **Foundation for Photography in Tangier** is a private institution devoted to photography's past, present and creative possibilities. At **235 Route de la Vieille Montagne**, it has **three exhibition rooms across two floors**, a patio and a visual-arts library, according to its official website. Its mission combines collecting, researching, showing and discussing photographic work. ## Exhibitions and creative programme The foundation focuses on two strands: **historic photographs from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries** and **contemporary photographic creation**. For **Photo Tanger 2026**, it presented **“Tanger, pourquoi Tanger ?”**, drawing on work by figures including Cecil Beaton, Harry Gruyaert, Mounir Fatmi and Nicolás Muller.
