Mohamed Drissi Contemporary Art Gallery – Tangier

## History and identity The **Mohamed Drissi Gallery** occupies a nineteenth-century former British consular residence at **52 Rue d'Angleterre** in Tangier. The building was repurposed for culture in 1986, subsequently housing a contemporary art museum before becoming the gallery named after painter **Mohammed Drissi** (1946–2003). Its exhibition rooms and garden connect the city's architectural heritage with the public presentation of modern Moroccan art. ## Exhibitions and creative programme In **2026** the gallery became an important site for **Photo Tanger**, showing **“L'appel du large”** with Leila Alaoui, Youssef Nabil, Mohamed El Baz and Yoriyas; **“Dialogue inattendu”** with Hicham Benohoud and Denis Darzacq; and work by young photography prizewinners. Culturama also lists **Nouzha Bennani's “Fragments du monde, vivre ensemble”** in October. These programmes bring together painting, image-making, documentation and contemporary artistic dialogue. ## Visiting information - **Address :** 52 rue d’Angleterre, Tanger 90000, Maroc - **Phone :** +212 539 93 60 73 - **Official site or programme :** [https://fr.tanger.ma/sites/galerie-mohamed-drissi/](https://fr.tanger.ma/sites/galerie-mohamed-drissi/) - **Opening hours :** Opening and exhibition hours vary; confirm with the venue. - Schedules and admission conditions vary by exhibition; confirm directly. ## Related culture and sources [Photo Tanger 2026](/agenda/photo-tanger-festival-image-2026-7967ed74-5553-4219-880e-fcf9ba6f10f6) · [Fragments du monde — Nouzha Bennani](/agenda/fragments-du-monde-vivre-ensemble-nouzha-bennani-tanger-2026-36468f9f-8f6f-4c6d-b43a-a8f019eb91f2) · [Gallery Kent](/institutions/gallery-kent-tanger) [fr.tanger.ma](https://fr.tanger.ma/sites/galerie-mohamed-drissi/) · [phototanger.com](https://phototanger.com/editions/photo-tanger-2026/)
