A working space above Cinéma Renaissance
HIBA_Lab is located above Cinéma Renaissance in central Rabat and forms part of the cultural infrastructure developed by Fondation Hiba. Opened in 2015, the space was conceived as a laboratory rather than a conventional exhibition venue. Its primary value lies in providing artists and cultural practitioners with room to rehearse, learn, meet, test ideas and develop projects.
This working orientation distinguishes HIBA_Lab from spaces built mainly around public programming. Courses, residencies, rehearsals and seminars can coexist with artistic encounters, making the venue useful at different stages of a creative process.
Experimentation across disciplines
The Lab is open to a wide range of practices, including music, theatre, movement, visual culture and interdisciplinary work. It can support artists who need temporary project space, teachers running regular classes, organisations holding professional sessions and teams preparing performances or cultural initiatives.
Its location within the wider Cinéma Renaissance and Fondation Hiba ecosystem creates links between training, production, cinema, live music and public presentation. Artists can move between research and rehearsal environments and venues designed to receive audiences.
Residencies, workshops and professional use
Access often depends on a specific course, residency, booking or event rather than on general museum-style opening hours. Cultural organisations and practitioners should contact Fondation Hiba to confirm availability and technical conditions.
