## Institution, history and identity The **Instituto Cervantes in Tangier** stands at **99 Avenue Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah** in the **Iberia district**, opposite the Mohammed V Mosque. Its white building with red signage houses the **Juan Goytisolo Library** and Spanish-language educational facilities. At the crossroads of Moroccan, Spanish and wider Mediterranean cultures, the institute presents literature, visual art, cinema and cross-cultural dialogue. Its surroundings also contain other Spanish educational establishments reflecting Tangier's layered international history. ## Libraries, facilities and cultural resources The **Juan Goytisolo Library** is among the Cervantes network's major collections, holding approximately **100,000 volumes** according to the centre, including resources on Spain, the Arab world and Hispanic-American literature. Exhibitions also take place at the separately located **Galería Cervantes, 9 Rue de Belgique**, close to Place de France. **These are different addresses**: a gallery visit should not be mistaken for an event in the institute's main Iberia building. ## 2026 programme and visitor guidance The **2026 programme** includes literary talks, film and discussions of Mediterranean cultures. In **September**, poet and cultural manager **Farid Othman-Bentria Ramos** appeared at **“Catas de libertad II”**, while author **Esmeralda Berbel** discussed diary writing. From **6 to 30 October**, the institute participates in the **World Flamenco Congress**, alongside the **“Cita con el cine”** film programme.
