OCP Khouribga Media Library – Mine Verte

## History and cultural role The **OCP Khouribga Media Library** is a major cultural institution developed as part of **Mine Verte**, a former phosphate-mining area repurposed for public amenities. Initiated by **Groupe OCP** and inaugurated in **2016**, it received support at launch from **Fondation Hiba** under an agreement covering management and cultural activity. The library aims to broaden access to knowledge, artistic creation and public discussion. It is a distinct institution from Khouribga's Mohammed VI Cultural Centre. ## Facilities, creative work and audiences Facilities combine a reading library, digital resources, children's activities, study and meeting areas and an **auditorium**. Groupe OCP describes **six spaces for study and social interaction**, a café and classrooms, as well as facilities designed for people with mobility limitations or visual impairments. Architectural elements evoke the mining landscape through earth-coloured volumes, bright white structures, pools, gardens and internal courtyards. Published area figures refer to different project and building boundaries, rather than one directly comparable surface. ## Programmes, visits and activities Programmes include reading, visual art, workshops and civic or literary encounters. During the **African Film Festival of Khouribga**, the OCP Foundation hosted a **2017** contemporary-art exhibition of approximately fifty works and a literary event with Rwandan novelist **Scholastique Mukasonga**. The institution has also supported local artists and community conversations, including a regional development consultation documented in **November 2025**.
