A global prize for the story behind an artwork
The inaugural .ART Award 2026 marks ten years of the .ART domain and celebrates artworks alongside the ideas, documentation and creative process behind them. The contest is open to individual artists and collectives worldwide, including Morocco, aged 18 and over. Visual art, performance, digital work, photography, poetry, music and interdisciplinary practices are welcome. Previously exhibited and ongoing work may be entered.
Prize and professional recognition
One artist wins the USD 15,000 cash grand prize. Additional distinctions include a one-month residency at Château du Fresne in France, a residency at Anfitrion.art in Spain, editorial features and a premium .ART domain valued at USD 10,000. These are competitive prizes, not grants to all participants. Semi-finalists are scheduled for 6 November, finalists for 20 November and winners for 3 December 2026.
The distinctive requirement: a .ART domain
There is no award-entry fee, but every candidate must own or obtain a .ART domain name as the actual submission. It can point to a dedicated website, redirect to an existing portfolio, or link to a sufficiently detailed Instagram or arts-platform page. A .ART domain may involve registration and renewal costs, even though submission itself is free. Multiple submissions are permitted if each uses a separate .ART domain.
Content required on the linked page
All application content must be in English and publicly accessible. It must contain:
- An artist/collective biography of at least 100 words.
- High-quality artwork documentation through images, film or 3D, including media, dimensions, materials and techniques.
- An account of the creative process, either at least 100 words of narrative or a 30–60-second video by the artist discussing concept, inspiration and development.
Applicants then enter their .ART URL in the award form rather than emailing a conventional PDF file. The domain acts as a continuously maintained digital record of their practice.
