A three-month international design residency in Pforzheim
The City of Pforzheim, EMMA Creative Center Pforzheim, Pforzheim University and the Design Center Baden-Württemberg invite emerging international designers to develop original projects in Germany. Three fellows will reside from 1 April to 30 June 2027, with dedicated workspaces and an opportunity to exhibit their results at the end of the programme.
Eligible design disciplines and applicants
The scheme welcomes applicants from any country, including Morocco, working in jewellery, fashion, accessories, industrial, graphic, communication or interdisciplinary design. Designers must have completed university or applied-university studies and meet at least one of these conditions: be 35 years old or younger, or have completed the relevant degree no more than two years ago. This alternative allows certain applicants over 35 with a recent degree to enter.
Scholarship and resources
Each of the three residents receives a €1,000 monthly living allowance, totalling €3,000 over the three months, along with free accommodation, fully equipped workshops and coworking facilities, reimbursement of travel expenses and an allowance for materials required by the project. Some Pforzheim University design facilities may also be accessible. Creative results are exhibited at the EMMA Creative Center.
Online application process
Applications must be made in English via the official online system. Participation is free, with only one submission permitted per applicant. The portal does not save applications in progress: applicants should prepare the artistic project, motivation, professional or academic profile and supporting PDF files in advance, respecting the advertised 50 MB file-size limit. Consult the portal for the final prompts and required attachments. The jury will announce its decision around mid-December 2026.
