Photographs that reveal our relationship with nature
The Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, supported by EFG Private Banking, invites photographers to the 2027 Environmental Photography Award. Since 2021, this prize has celebrated photography that makes biodiversity visible, documents environmental harm and shares stories of ecological protection. Photographers of every nationality, including Morocco, can enter for free, whether professional or amateur, provided they are 18 or older on 1 November 2026.
Five different entry categories
The international jury assesses submissions in Ocean (marine life above and below the surface), Forests (forest ecosystems and communities), Polar Regions, Humanity versus Nature (damage, resource depletion and the effects of climate change), and Changemakers (people and groups taking positive action). The same photograph cannot be entered into more than one category. Select the category that best matches the subject and photographic story.
How the awards work
Each of the five category winners receives €1,000. One of those category winners is named Environmental Photographer 2027 and receives an additional €5,000, meaning the overall winner can receive €6,000 in total. There are also €500 awards for the Public Award and Students’ Choice. The grand-prize winner is invited to the exhibition opening in Monaco with travel and accommodation included. A jury selects 36 photographs for an exhibition in Monaco and international touring presentations, as well as a bilingual French/English book. Shortlisted photographers receive two copies of the publication. These are competitive prizes, not project production grants.
Submission and image integrity
Enter online via Photocrowd, accessible from the official competition site. Photography must be the entrant’s own work, with no generative AI content or materially deceptive alterations. Preserve the original RAW photographs and camera metadata, which may be requested during later verification. Accurate captions explaining location, species and conditions are important, and images must respect the welfare of people, wildlife and habitats. Prepare watermark-free high-resolution photographs and review the current technical limits in the official rules before uploading.
