Founded in 1955, the Athens Epidaurus Festival is one of Europe’s major performing-arts events. It connects ancient heritage with contemporary theatre, dance, music and performance.
Historic and contemporary stages
The programme unfolds at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus, the Little Theatre of Ancient Epidaurus and the former industrial complex of Peiraios 260.
New performance languages
Alongside ancient drama, Greek and international artists explore contemporary theatre, choreography, music and interdisciplinary creation. Talks, workshops and professional programmes extend the performances.
