From 30 June to 23 August 2026, the 40th Grad Teatar turns Budva’s Old Town into an open-air stage, presenting more than sixty programmes across theatre, literature, music and visual art.

The 2026 edition

The festival activates squares, spaces between churches, Poets’ Square, Mogren Fortress and other heritage sites. Theatre productions, performance walks, chamber opera, literary encounters and concerts make the urban fabric part of the artistic work.

Why this festival matters

Founded in 1987, Grad Teatar also produces works that examine the heritage of Budva and Montenegro. Audiences move between stages and experience a direct relationship between contemporary creation, Mediterranean architecture and public space.
