Peralada Festival is a summer event devoted to opera, classical music, recitals, dance and contemporary creation. It unfolds across the heritage spaces of Peralada Castle in the Empordà region.
A festival in a medieval complex
The Carme church, cloister, castle viewpoint, cellars and gardens host formats adapted to each setting: intimate recitals, chamber music, small-scale opera, dance productions and stage experiences.
Creation, excellence and transmission
The festival produces and commissions new work, invites leading artists and companies, supports composers and develops Campus Peralada and the Carmen Mateu Award. This policy connects international presentation, emerging-talent development and new creation.
2026 edition
The 40th edition ran from 17 July to 9 August 2026, bringing together opera, dance, chamber music and contemporary creation. A special concert by the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra was also scheduled for 29 August at the Palau de la Música Catalana.
Why it matters
- An exceptional heritage setting on the Costa Brava.
- A strong focus on opera, dance and classical music.
- A policy of commissions and support for creators.
