Photo Tanger — International Festival of the Image

An international photography and image festival turning Tangier into an artistic route through galleries, museums, bookshops, cinema and public spaces.

Photo Tanger International Festival of the Image visual in Tangier

Photo Tanger turns the city on the Strait into a territory of images. The festival connects photography, cinema, publishing, visual heritage and contemporary practice through a route crossing galleries, museums, bookshops, cultural institutions and public spaces.

A city viewed from two horizons

The festival draws on Tangier’s singular position between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic. Its works explore travel, circulation, urban memory, coastlines and the many ways people inhabit the world. This relationship with place gives Photo Tanger an identity that extends beyond a sequence of exhibitions.

Photographic heritage and emerging voices

The programme brings archives and major photographic figures into dialogue with contemporary artists and young Moroccan talent. Exhibitions, screenings, roundtables, book signings and workshops move the experience from looking at images to discussing how they shape memory and public life.

2026 edition

The inaugural edition runs from June 16 to August 31, 2026 under the theme “The Call of the Open Sea.” Artists include Leila Alaoui, Youssef Nabil, Mohamed El Baz, Yoriyas, Hicham Benohoud, Denis Darzacq, Harry Gruyaert and Isabel Muñoz.
