About this event
Photo Tanger turns the Strait city into a broad landscape of images from June 16 to August 31, 2026. Its inaugural edition, themed “The Call of the Open Sea,” draws on Tangier’s maritime identity to explore travel, the circulation of gazes, coastal memory and different ways of inhabiting the world. Exhibitions, screenings, talks, conferences and workshops take place across venues including Galerie Mohamed Drissi, Villa Harris, the Palace of Arts and Culture, the Photography Foundation, the French Institute, Instituto Cervantes and Cinéma Alcazar.
The programme connects photographic heritage with contemporary practice and established artists with emerging voices. It features Leila Alaoui, Youssef Nabil, Mohamed El Baz, Yoriyas, Hicham Benohoud, Denis Darzacq, Harry Gruyaert, Isabel Muñoz and many Moroccan and international photographers. More than a sequence of exhibitions, Photo Tanger offers a visual and emotional map of the city, its cosmopolitan histories and its long-standing openness to both the Mediterranean and the Atlantic.
