From 20 to 23 August 2026, Koprivnica’s old fortifications will host the Renaissance Festival, a large historical reconstruction devoted to the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance.
The 2026 edition
More than 1,300 costumed participants from Croatia and several European countries will take part in knightly tournaments, combat, fencing demonstrations, performances, early-music concerts, markets and presentations of traditional crafts.
Why this festival matters
The remains of the Koprivnica fortress become the setting for an immersive historical experience. Plastic is removed from the site, food is served in wooden or ceramic vessels and selected recipes reinterpret older practices, including dishes based on nettles associated with the city’s identity.
