Opened in 2009 below the Acropolis, the museum brings together archaeological finds from the Sacred Rock and its slopes. Its architecture creates a direct relationship between the collections and the Parthenon.
From the Archaic period to late antiquity
The galleries present sanctuary finds, Archaic sculpture, the Caryatids, reliefs from the Temple of Athena Nike and the Parthenon Gallery.
Architecture, excavation and learning
Glass floors reveal the ancient neighbourhood beneath the building. Guided visits, family activities, digital resources and temporary exhibitions support different ways of exploring the collections.
Visitor information
The museum is in the Makrygianni district near Acropoli metro station. Opening times and admission vary by season.
