IKLYLE Cultural Centre, Fez

A cultural media library at the gateway to the medina

IKLYLE Cultural Centre Fez is part of the network developed by the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Promotion of Social Works in Education and Training. Inaugurated in 2024, the centre occupies more than 2,000 square metres near Bab Riafa and Jnane Sbil, at a point of connection between the modern city and the medina. Its location allows reading services, artistic practice and public programming to engage directly with the heritage environment of Fez.

The building was conceived as a cultural living space rather than a conventional library. It combines a substantial physical collection with digital resources, reading areas for different age groups and facilities intended to widen access, including provision for visually impaired readers. Activities for children, young people and families give the centre an educational and community role alongside its documentary mission.

Reading, artistic practice and transmission

IKLYLE offers workshops in drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, graphic design, musical initiation and drama. These programmes emphasise sustained learning: participants may use the centre for a first encounter with an art form, regular leisure practice or more structured development. Registration rules may depend on the Foundation’s calendar and beneficiary arrangements, so practical conditions should be confirmed directly with the centre.

Public programming also includes literary meetings, book presentations, poetry, lectures and projects addressing intangible heritage. In January 2026, the centre hosted the first National Zajal Forum, dedicated to poetry in Moroccan Arabic and to popular cultural expressions. This orientation connects contemporary reading and debate with oral traditions, music and the knowledge systems of the Fez region.

A new address in Fez’s cultural landscape

IKLYLE complements institutions such as the French Institute of Fez, the Instituto Cervantes and Les Étoiles de la Médina. Its distinctive contribution lies in the combination of a media library, regular creative workshops and programming designed for several generations.

Check the latest IKLYLE announcements before visiting, as workshop registration, member access and public-event admission may follow different arrangements. Continue with current events in Fez, the city cultural guide and other cultural places in Fez.
