Located in the baroque Kulmer Palace in Zagreb’s Upper Town, the Museum of Broken Relationships turns the remains of separation into shared narratives.
A collection built through donations
Each object is accompanied by a text written by the person who contributed it. Clothes, letters, gifts and ordinary or unusual belongings become vehicles for intimate accounts of love, family, friendship, break-up and grief.
From travelling project to permanent museum
Conceived in Croatia as a participatory art project, the museum expanded through international exhibitions and new contributions. Its collection brings together highly specific local experiences while revealing universal emotions and rituals.
