About this event
The Institut français in Fès welcomes Moroccan author Intissar Haddiya on November 21, 2026 at 5:30 pm for a literary meeting around her novel “The Screen of Illusions”, published by Marsam in 2026.
Through the story of a respected woman doctor caught in a virtual relationship built on manipulation and deception, the novel explores emotional vulnerability in the digital age. It looks at loneliness among independent women, trust, coercive dynamics, online illusions and the darker effects of an increasingly hyperconnected society.
Intissar Haddiya combines literary work with a medical career. A nephrologist and professor of medicine at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in Oujda, she is also involved in research and in social initiatives supporting patients with kidney failure and promoting organ donation.
Since the publication of “Si Dieu nous prête vie” in 2016, she has developed a body of fiction attentive to changes in Moroccan society, family relationships, human vulnerability and resilience. Her books also include “L’Inconnue”, “Trahison pieuse” and “Un si long chemin”.
The Fès meeting offers an opportunity to discuss the links between her professional experience, civic engagement and writing, and to consider how fiction can illuminate contemporary psychological and social issues.
