About this event
Until July 31, 2026, Al Muwahhideen Square in central Ouarzazate hosts Ithran, a permanent cultural and artistic activation space created with the approval of the municipal council. Designed as a lively public platform in the heart of the city, the project aims to stimulate cultural, artistic, economic and tourist activity while connecting the square to the historic Taourirt Kasbah. Its daily programme highlights heritage expressions and local talent through performances by Gnawa of the Kasbah, Aissaoua Ait Bousfi, Ahwach troupes, folk groups, musical ensembles and visual artists. Children’s activities and sessions led by educators complement the programme on several days of the week. Ithran provides a recurring stage for artists and craftspeople from the region, encourages the participation of young people and families, and turns Al Muwahhideen Square into a cultural attraction for residents and visitors. By linking heritage, creation, transmission and the local economy, the initiative presents cultural programming as a sustainable tool for enhancing Ouarzazate’s historic centre.
