About this event
National Architecture Days 2026 in El Jadida — Heritage and Coastal Cities
For the 2026 National Architecture Days, the Institut français d'El Jadida presents an exhibition of architectural and urban-design projects exploring the contemporary Mediterranean city. The works originated in an international workshop organised in El Jadida in 2025–2026. Moroccan and French architecture students and teachers examine how coastal settlements can respond to changing lifestyles, the preservation of built heritage and the environmental demands of the future.
Architectural research and cooperation
The academic partnership includes the National School of Architecture in Rabat, ENSA Paris-Val de Seine and ENSA Paris-Malaquais. Through research, plans and collective design proposals, participants study the links between historic neighbourhoods, waterfronts, public space, urban transformation and the ecological transition. The exhibition demonstrates how international educational cooperation can create new ideas for more sustainable Mediterranean cities while respecting the distinct histories that shape them. El Jadida provides a valuable case study through its coastal environment and architectural heritage.
