About this event
Organised by the Education and Development Association – Ouarzazate branch, the festival continues its long-term work supporting emerging filmmakers, developing film culture in the province and reinforcing Ouarzazate’s role as a major Moroccan territory for cinema, filming and transmission.
The 2026 edition places contemporary human issues at the centre of the short-film form, including social justice, migration, childhood, women’s issues, cultural diversity, climate change, human rights, dignity, solidarity and coexistence. The festival approaches short film both as a creative form and as a space for public reflection and dialogue.
The programme is structured around seven thematic “cinema kasbahs”: creation and the official competition; exchange of experience through masterclasses, open meetings and a cinema café; children’s cinema; film memory and tributes; training in directing, screenwriting, cinematography, editing and visual storytelling; academic and critical discussions; and “Treasures of My Country”, dedicated to the cultural, heritage, tourism and film assets of Ouarzazate.
Activities announced include short-film screenings, encounters with directors, actors, critics and researchers, professional and youth workshops, and visits to heritage sites, kasbahs, studios and locations connected with the region’s cinema history.
