About this event
A writer exploring representation and identity
French author and blogger Laura Nsafou, known for her « Mrs Roots » platform, addresses the visibility of Afro-descendant voices and the representation of Black people in French-language literature. Through writing, public talks and workshops, she examines how identity, family memory and cultural belonging are narrated. Her Fes appearance invites readers to discover a literary practice that challenges stereotypes and helps younger generations find themselves in the stories they read.
Children’s books, young-adult fiction and graphic narratives
Nsafou wrote the acclaimed picture book « Comme un million de papillons noirs » (Cambourakis), the audio story collection « Les Lumineuses », and the young-adult dystopian trilogy « Nos Jours Brûlés » (Albin Michel). She also contributed to graphic novels. In « Écrire avant l’aube », published by Albin Michel Jeunesse in 2025, she draws inspiration from Nobel laureate Toni Morrison to explore memory, identity and resilience. Her work moves between formats while maintaining a strong interest in inclusive storytelling.
