A 2,400-kilometre escape after Che's death
In 1967, after Che Guevara's final battle in Bolivia and his execution, three guerrillas who had fought alongside him attempted to evade capture. Pursued by thousands of soldiers, they crossed more than 2,400 kilometres of difficult territory over several months, struggling to reach Chile and survive. Decades later, the remaining witnesses describe their escape, their ideological commitments and the personal cost of a conflict that shaped their lives.
Rare archival footage and animated reconstruction
Director Christophe Dimitri Réveille combines exclusive interviews, archive material and animated sequences to bring a largely untold Cold War chapter to the screen. Vincent Lindon provides narration. Selected for the 2026 Cannes Film Festival's Special Screenings, the documentary approaches historical events through lived experiences rather than purely military chronology. Film notices differ slightly on runtime, quoting 97 or 98 minutes. Its themes include loyalty, political violence, survival and the long aftermath of revolutionary struggles.
