About this event
A sinister tale of a tailor and his creation
Jean is an ageing tailor attached to an earlier era of fashion. He continues asking his wife to work on outdated dresses and cannot let go of the world he once knew. After a macabre incident, he is inspired to make a beautiful but deeply disturbing new dress. In « La Robe peau », director Joachim Hérissé turns fabric and dressmaking into materials for a disturbing fantasy. The story's short format puts the emphasis on atmosphere, visual transformation and the fragile border between artistic creation and obsession.
French horror animation in a double-film programme
The 15-minute French animated short is part of the Institut français de Kénitra's Night of Horror, a cinema event devoted to unsettling and supernatural stories. This is atmospheric horror animation rather than children's entertainment. The themes of nostalgia, control and the grotesque emerge through the tailor's relationship to his craft. The same programme also features Jamal Belmejdoub’s Moroccan supernatural thriller « Hôtel de la paix ».
