About this event
The event
The Fez Festival dedicates the evening of Thursday 22 October to the samâ ritual of the Moroccan Sqalliya Sufi order at Bab Al Makina. It is one of several nights highlighting the country's brotherhood music traditions.
Artistic and cultural context
Chanted invocations and mystical poetry form a living oral heritage transmitted through voices and community practice. The event offers a way to hear a particular expression of samâ, while recognising the differences between Morocco's Sufi orders.
