Charlie Chaplin’s 1940 satire places a persecuted Jewish barber opposite Adenoid Hynkel, an authoritarian ruler obsessed with propaganda, conquest and personal power. Through physical comedy and parody, the film exposes the rituals and language of dictatorship. The Great Dictator remains a major work of film history, combining slapstick with a direct critique of totalitarianism. Its place in a family cinema season opens a conversation about how humour, speech and imagination can resist political violence. French-dubbed version; approximately 125 minutes. Free admission, no advance booking required, subject to available seating. Screening at 11:00 AM in the Pierre Bergé Auditorium.
