About this event
Soumiya Jalal’s work stands between textile sculpture and immersive installation. Following in the footsteps of major textile artists such as Sheila Hicks and Chiharu Shiota, she explores the narrative power of fibre through monumental structures that reshape the surrounding architecture.
Her practice is built on contrast: hemp string, sisal, raw goat wool and sheep wool are removed from their ordinary uses and given a sculptural presence. Through accumulation and repetition, these modest materials become several-metre-high panels—walls of texture, memory and lived experience.
