About this event
Floating Cities #Morocco — Embroidered Symbols in El Jadida
« Villes flottantes #Opus Maroc — Au fil de l’eau et du sacré » presents immersive embroidered murals exploring the persistence of symbols and how they acquire new meanings across time and cultures. Research for this Moroccan chapter was developed with curator Alaa Eddine Sagid, associated with the Musée Monde des arts de la parure. Through large textile landscapes, familiar patterns become visual narratives that connect heritage, water, spirituality and collective imagination.
Embroidery and transmission
The works were embroidered with the Iminouzerg collective, in partnership with Timendotes and Brodeuse Voyageuse. The project reinterprets characteristic elements of Moroccan caftan making, including sfifa, qitan and âaqad. It celebrates skilled local craft, the transfer of knowledge between generations and the possibilities of contemporary textile art. Presented during Digital November, the exhibition links traditional needlework with broader questions about how culture is represented and remembered.
