L'Uzine

An arts venue shaped by an industrial site

L’Uzine is an independent cultural space in Casablanca developed by the Touria and Abdelaziz Tazi Foundation. Located in a former industrial building, it uses the scale and material character of the site to support performance, music, visual art, film and collective cultural activity. The venue is associated with Roches Noires and the wider industrial geography of eastern Casablanca, giving it a different atmosphere from institutional theatres or city-centre galleries.

The building’s transformation is part of its cultural meaning. Instead of erasing the industrial past, L’Uzine uses it as a framework for contemporary creation, gathering artists, audiences and community initiatives in adaptable spaces.

Contemporary forms and alternative scenes

The programme can include concerts, exhibitions, screenings, performances, conversations, creative markets and multidisciplinary workshops. Residencies and hybrid projects allow work to develop across categories rather than fitting neatly into theatre, music or visual-art formats.
