Training tomorrow’s cultural professionals

The Ali Zaoua Academy for Cultural Professions (AMC) is an initiative of the Ali Zaoua Foundation created to support the professionalisation of Morocco’s cultural sector. It provides practical, career-oriented training designed around the needs of cultural venues, artistic projects and their audiences.

A national training model

Based in Aïn Sebaâ, Casablanca, the Academy also operates hybrid training relays in Fez, Agadir, Marrakesh and Tangier. Its programmes mainly target people aged 18 to 29, with eligibility extended to 35 in the Aïn Sebaâ prefecture. Scholarships may be available to selected learners after admission.

Five professional pathways

• Cultural centre management: administration, coordination and day-to-day operation of a local cultural venue.
• Cultural project management: design, development and delivery of artistic and cultural projects.
• Cultural mediation: building links between artists, programmes, venues and audiences.
• Cultural assistance: administrative, educational and operational support within a cultural organisation.
• Arts education: helping artists develop the teaching skills required to work with diverse audiences.

Practice-led learning

Programmes combine theoretical learning, practical workshops and a 160-hour field placement. Depending on the pathway, participants complete approximately 150 to 170 hours of coursework over six months.

Through these programmes, AMC strengthens the skills required to manage cultural venues, develop artistic projects, connect programmes with audiences and make culture more accessible. It draws on the Ali Zaoua Foundation’s experience and the work of the Les Étoiles cultural centres.
