Four days of cinema and comedy in El Jadida

The 15th Doukkala Film Days takes place from 29 October to 1 November 2026 across Théâtre Municipal Saïd Afifi and the Portuguese City Theatre in El Jadida. Under the theme “Cinema and Laughter”, the programme spans Moroccan and international features, discussions about comedy, tributes, music and cultural visits.

Thursday 29 October: opening film

Opening begins at Théâtre Afifi at 6 pm, with music from Mehdi Cherkaoui and a tribute to actor-director Omar Lotfi. His Moroccan comedy L'Batal (The Hero), released in 2024, is the opening film. A separate screening start time has not been announced.

Friday 30 October: Omar Lotfi and comedy on screen

At 10 am the Portuguese City Theatre hosts an Omar Lotfi masterclass with the film team, as well as a symposium exploring laughter in film with critics and cultural commentators. Un monde merveilleux screens at 4 pm in collaboration with the Institut français; La Grande Vadrouille follows at 6 pm. At Théâtre Afifi, a tribute to photographer Abdellah Ammour at 6 pm precedes Driss Mrini's Moroccan film Le Serpent at 6:30 pm and Sami Massoud's Tunisian film Une paille est tombée du ciel at 8 pm.

Saturday 31 October: Moroccan filmmaking

The symposium continues at 10 am with Hassan Narais on comedy screenwriting. At Théâtre Afifi, a tribute to photographer Aziz El Mahdi at 6 pm is accompanied by Abdelwahed Moujahid's Dados; Jawad Khawdi's Moroccan film Nod o nod is listed for 6:30 pm. Because the published times are close together, audiences should confirm the exact screening sequence with the festival.

Sunday 1 November: closing programme

A heritage visit for festival guests is scheduled at 10 am. The closing ceremony at Théâtre Afifi begins at 6 pm with music and tributes; the Burkinabè closing film Le PPS de Soum le Sapeur by Ousmane Bamogo is listed at 8 pm.
