A grieving painter and an unlikely fortune-teller
Paris, 1928. Antoine Balestro, once a celebrated young painter, is unable to work after his wife's death. His gallery owner Armand tries to restore his confidence, but Antoine's grief has overwhelmed his creative life. One evening, he consults a fortune-teller, hoping to speak with his late wife. Instead, he unknowingly talks to Suzanne, an impoverished fairground worker who has entered the psychic's caravan in search of food. The deception brings Antoine back to life, but Suzanne's growing feelings make their improvised arrangement increasingly difficult to sustain.
