Iklyle Cultural Centre, Oujda

A new cultural centre for Oujda and the Oriental region

Iklyle Cultural Centre opened in Oujda on 7 May 2026. It is operated by the Mohammed VI Foundation for the Promotion of Social Works in Education and Training and is the fifth venue in the Iklyle network, following centres in Rabat, Tangier, Tetouan and Fez.

The centre was inaugurated alongside the neighbouring Narjisse sports club. Together, the two facilities occupy a 40,000-square-metre site and represent a combined investment of more than MAD 125 million. This figure applies to the cultural and sports complex as a whole, not to Iklyle alone.

A physical and digital media library

The cultural centre covers more than 2,000 square metres. Its media library holds over 12,000 printed books and provides access to approximately 67,000 digital resources, supported by reading, consultation and training areas.

This combination allows Iklyle to work as more than a conventional library. It can support independent reading, school projects, digital research and cultural discovery for children, teenagers and adults.

Visual arts, performance and creative learning

Announced activities include drawing, painting, sculpture and ceramics, alongside spaces for theatre, music and early arts education. Talks, film screenings and cultural encounters are also part of the centre’s remit.

The Iklyle model places particular emphasis on participation. Rather than limiting cultural access to occasional performances, it creates opportunities to learn a technique, join a workshop cycle, develop a project and work towards a public presentation.

Robotics, 3D printing and digital making

Iklyle Oujda also includes workshops in robotics, 3D printing, graphic design and coding. These facilities bring artistic practice into dialogue with science, technology and contemporary forms of making.

For younger participants, the programme can provide an introduction to prototyping and visual creation. For adults and education professionals, it offers a practical route into digital tools alongside the library and traditional arts workshops.

Access and practical information

Iklyle centres are primarily designed for members of the Mohammed VI Foundation and their families. The Foundation has nevertheless stated that the network is also open to the general public, with access conditions and preferential rates depending on the activity.

As the Oujda centre opened recently, permanent opening hours, age groups, detailed fees and the complete workshop timetable are not yet published in one reliable public source. Check the Iklyle website and current announcements before travelling or registering.
