A public cultural venue serving Al Hoceima

Prince Moulay El Hassan House of Culture is one of Al Hoceima’s principal public venues for arts and cultural exchange. Located on Avenue Houmane El Fetouaki, it hosts festivals, film screenings, performances, exhibitions, workshops and programmes developed with associations, schools and cultural partners.

Its programme is multidisciplinary, bringing cinema, theatre, visual arts, literature and artistic learning together while giving creators from the Rif and visiting artists a public platform.

Cinema and emerging talent

The House of Culture is an important address for film culture in Al Hoceima. In May 2025, it hosted the opening of the Al Hoceima International Film Festival, an edition focused on young cinema. Moroccan and international films were accompanied by workshops in screenwriting, acting, artistic direction and production.

This regular engagement with cinema supports public access to films, professional exchange and the development of a new generation of filmmakers.

Visual arts, workshops and public encounters

The venue also presents exhibitions and cultural-learning activities. In April 2026, the Franco-Moroccan Cultural Days of Al Hoceima brought an exhibition, film-education activities and artistic encounters to the House of Culture.

Literary meetings, public talks, tributes and programmes devoted to women’s creativity, regional heritage and contemporary artistic practice also form part of its role.

A stage connected to the Rif

Amazigh culture and the social realities of the Rif are important elements in projects presented at the venue. Theatre, film, visual art and discussion create connections between local memory and contemporary creation.

The House of Culture complements Al Hoceima’s wider cultural network by providing a public place to present work, support young participants and bring artists, associations and residents together.
