About this event
The sixth Casablanca International Biennale will exceptionally take place in Essaouira from December 10, 2026 to January 10, 2027. Entitled “Fabricating the Impossible,” the edition turns relocation into a curatorial gesture: while retaining its historical Casablanca identity, the Biennale creates a temporary artistic route through a port city shaped by cultural circulation, living memory and intercultural exchange.\n\nCurated by Marisa Caichiolo, the programme brings together more than 80 Moroccan and international artists around resilience, memory, ecology and renewal. Installations, photography, video, sound work and performance will occupy several emblematic sites in Essaouira, including spaces rarely opened to the public, as well as the Ifitry artists’ residency where a number of invited projects were developed. Rather than confining contemporary art to a single venue, the edition connects artistic research with the city’s architecture, heritage and ongoing transformations.
