About this event
Iqtibās, a creation by Sarah M., is presented in Casablanca on October 20, 2026 at 7:30 pm as part of the Institut français du Maroc season “J-Lioum, ce qui vient”.
Abel and Balkis love each other absolutely, convinced their relationship can free them from old wounds and inherited histories. When an earthquake strikes Morocco, everything changes: Balkis disappears and Abel begins a personal quest in which he must learn to listen to a language, a memory and a history that had previously been foreign to him.
Combining theatre, dance, slam and live music, Iqtibās explores love, identity, transmission, family legacies and dialogue between cultures, bringing the shocks of history into direct contact with those of intimate life.
The performance features Hayet Darwich and Maxime Lévêque, with musician Osam live on stage. French and Darija intertwine through movement, voice and music in a sensitive journey between France and Morocco.
Running time: 1 hour 15 minutes. Recommended for ages 14 and over. The national tour travels through nine Moroccan cities between October 7 and 29, with the Casablanca programme listing the October 20 performance at 7:30 pm.
