About the event
Sepideh Farsi's animated film The Siren is set in Abadan, Iran, in 1980, at the start of the Iran–Iraq War. Fourteen-year-old Omid faces the siege of his hometown and searches for his missing brother while the residents struggle with violence and displacement. Through a young protagonist, the film combines animation, historical memory and a moving reflection on courage, friendship and the bonds of community. It offers a perspective on war beyond military events, emphasising human solidarity and the experience of civilians. The Institut français de Meknès presented this film during the Animation Film Festival on Thursday 15 October 2026 at 9:30 am, Rue Ferhat Hachad. Admission: MAD 20 for members and MAD 30 for non-members. This screening has passed and remains in the archive.
