About this event
The Institut français in Casablanca welcomes Laura Nsafou on October 16, 2026 at 7:30 pm for a literary meeting exploring representation, Afro-descendant identities, memory and transmission.
Through her Mrs Roots blog and numerous cultural projects, Nsafou has become an important voice in discussions of Afrofeminism in France and the visibility of Afro literature in French-language publishing.
Her work spans several forms: children’s literature with Comme un million de papillons noirs, audio storytelling with Les Lumineuses, Young Adult fiction with the afrodystopian trilogy Nos Jours Brûlés, and graphic novels including Amours Croisées and Quand vient l’été.
In 2025 she published Écrire avant l’aube with Albin Michel Jeunesse, a fictionalised biography inspired by Toni Morrison, exploring identity, memory, resilience and transmission.
The meeting offers an opportunity to discuss her writing as well as broader questions of representation in publishing and how stories can create new spaces of identification for younger readers.
Admission is free. Discover more literary events in Casablanca on Culturama.
