A museum devoted to material from space

The University Meteorite Museum in Agadir is a scientific and educational institution affiliated with Ibn Zohr University. Opened in 2016, it presents meteorites discovered in Morocco alongside material used to explain impact processes, planetary geology and the formation of the solar system. The museum supports research and public engagement, addressing students, school groups, researchers and visitors with an interest in earth and space sciences.

Southern Morocco occupies an important place in international meteoritics. Interpretation explains the difference between asteroids, meteors and meteorites, as well as the laboratory methods used to determine composition and origin.

The museum also introduces the geological evidence left by cosmic impacts. Through samples, diagrams and audiovisual material, visitors can understand how researchers reconstruct events that occurred millions or billions of years ago.
