About this event
The Institut français in Casablanca welcomes writer Hajar Azell on October 25, 2026 at 1:00 pm for a meeting around her book Letter to an Introvert.
Published in 2026, the intimate text takes the form of a letter to her young cousin Imane, whose drawings shared online reveal a singular sensitivity. Through this correspondence, Azell explores introversion not as a weakness but as a way of inhabiting the world, creating, observing and developing one’s own voice.
The book addresses self-confidence, the pressure of other people’s gaze, creativity and the ability to find one’s place in a society that often rewards constant exposure and extroversion.
Born in Rabat and trained in philosophy and economics, Hajar Azell first worked as a consultant before turning to writing and teaching. From 2013 to 2020, she ran Onorient, a web magazine dedicated to emerging artists from North Africa and the Middle East.
After L’Envers de l’été in 2021 and Le sens de la fuite in 2025, winner of the Grand Mosque of Paris Prize, she continues to explore identity, emancipation and inner life in Letter to an Introvert.
