About Al Hassani Cultural Complex, Casablanca
A municipal cultural hub for Hay Hassani
Al Hassani Cultural Complex is a public neighbourhood institution managed within Casablanca’s municipal cultural network and the Hay Hassani district council. Opened on 23 December 2022, it was designed to combine performance, artistic education, public reading and community activity under one roof. Its location matters: the complex brings substantial cultural infrastructure closer to a densely populated part of Casablanca that has historically had fewer major venues than the city centre.
The institution is therefore more than an auditorium. Its official remit includes theatre, music, dance, dramatic arts, visual arts, books and public reading, as well as conferences, civic initiatives and programmes for younger audiences.
A 3,170-square-metre complex with a 515-seat theatre
Casablanca’s municipal authorities state that the building covers approximately 3,170 square metres. Its main auditorium has an announced capacity of 515 seats and can host plays, concerts, comedy, formal ceremonies, talks and medium-to-large touring productions.
The complex also includes an exhibition gallery and spaces for intellectual and cultural events. Its contemporary white-and-glass façade, carrying the name in Arabic, Tifinagh and French, visibly reflects its public and multilingual identity.
Arts education and local talent development
A key feature is the integrated institute for music, dance and dramatic arts. This educational component connects what audiences see on stage with longer-term learning, rehearsal and skills development. It can serve children, teenagers and adults from Hay Hassani who would otherwise need to travel across Casablanca for structured arts education.
Current enrolment procedures, course levels, fees and timetables are not consistently published online. Prospective students should therefore confirm details directly at the complex before registering.
A municipal library for reading and study
The building also houses a public library. This gives Al Hassani an everyday function beyond scheduled performances, providing space for reading, study and activities around books and literacy. Information on the current collection, membership requirements and permanent opening hours remains limited, so visitors should confirm access locally.
Programming across heritage, comedy and creative skills
Programming observed since the opening reflects the venue’s flexibility. It has hosted Andalusian and Aissawa music, theatre, comedy in Darija and French, improvisation, conferences and events related to digital creativity and talent development.
Recent programmes in 2025 and 2026 included comedy performances, an improvisation cabaret, a digital skills event and concerts devoted to Andalusian and Aissawa heritage. This range allows the venue to connect established Moroccan traditions with popular entertainment and emerging creative practices.
Planning your visit
The complex is located in Hay Hassani on Route d’El Jadida. Theatre access generally depends on the individual event and its ticketing arrangements. Library, conservatory and exhibition hours may follow different schedules.
Confirm the event time, admission conditions, language and organiser before travelling. Continue exploring Casablanca through the Sidi Belyout Cultural Complex, the Ali Zaoua Academy for Cultural Professions, L’Uzine, current events in Casablanca and the city’s cultural directory.
