About this event
Introducing Leili Anvar
Born in Tehran, Leili Anvar is a scholar of Persian literature, journalist and translator, and a lecturer at INALCO in Paris. Her work brings major Persian poetic and spiritual traditions to French-speaking readers and opens connections between cultures.
Poetry across languages
Anvar translated Farid ud-Din Attar’s The Conference of the Birds and has written about Rumi and the idea of love as a spiritual tradition. She also edited the anthology Orient – A Thousand Years of Poetry and Painting. Hosted by the Porte d’Anfa bookshop, the meeting offers a chance to discuss translation, literary transmission, the encounter between languages and the place of poetry in today's world.
