## Institution, history and identity The **Instituto Cervantes of Tétouan**, at **3 Rue Mohamed Torres**, occupies a distinctive white historic building closely connected with Spanish-language education and cultural exchange. The site was inaugurated as a **Spanish Cultural Centre on 25 April 1985**, became part of the **Cervantes network in 1992**, and reopened after extensive refurbishment in **2003**. Its multi-storey layout includes a **library, event room, classrooms** and a terrace occasionally used for cultural gatherings. ## Libraries, facilities and cultural resources The **Vicente Aleixandre Library** has its own long history, founded in **1962** as the Spanish Library of Tétouan. Its collections cover Spanish and Latin American literature, art, Moroccan history, Al-Andalus, film and music. It honours Nobel Prize-winning poet **Vicente Aleixandre** and received a professional library innovation award in **2013** for a project digitising the Alfonso de Sierra Ochoa archive.
