About this event
The 2026 reading club at the Instituto Cervantes’ Vicente Aleixandre Library in Tetouan has scheduled ‘Tetuán y Larache 1936’, a historical novel by Luis María Cazorla published by Almuzara in 2025, as its November book. Since 2010, the library has hosted discussion groups in which readers can compare interpretations, explore historical contexts and share experiences. Some meetings involve authors or subject experts, but the author’s participation in this particular session has not been confirmed.
The novel unfolds in the Spanish Protectorate in Morocco around the events leading to the Spanish Civil War. Through networks of espionage, political intrigue, military tension and private dilemmas, it brings Tetouan and Larache into focus as literary settings, prompting reflection on history, collective memory and relationships across the Strait of Gibraltar.
