## Sah Zine joins the national theatre competition
“Sah Zine” (Arabic: «ساح الزين») is a production by Casablanca’s Al Fan Al Assil Cinema and Theatre Workshop, selected for the official competition of the 26th National Theatre Festival. It is scheduled at Teatro-Cinema Español in Tétouan on Wednesday 21 October 2026 at 8 pm.
## Amazigh cultural memory and myth
Inspired by Moroccan Amazigh memory, rituals and storytelling traditions, this contemporary work asks how people create legends when confronted with the unknown. Its dramatic world moves between dreams and reality, individual desire and communal expectations. A figure struggles with an apparently predetermined destiny, torn between an old love, social customs and the hope of another path. A red pomegranate signals transformation, while the staging leaves meanings open to the audience’s interpretation.
## Writing, movement and stage design
The play was written by Saad Allah Abdelmajid, with dramaturgy and direction by Sami Saad Allah. Yassine Zaoui designed the scenography and costumes. Performers’ gestures, light, images and spatial composition help tell the story rather than merely decorating a spoken script. Movement reveals emotions and conflicts that the characters cannot express directly.
## Cast and company
The announced cast includes Reda Bennaim, Qods Joundal, Jamila Maslouhi, Walid El Maaroufi, Saïd Mezouar and El Mehdi Ladri. Founded in Casablanca in 2009, Al Fan Al Assil explores the relationship between inherited narratives and new theatrical languages.
