About this event
Chloé Despax — Sound Art Residency in Tangier, October–November 2026
From 26 October to 15 November 2026, sound artist, composer and radio documentary maker Chloé Despax is in residence at the Institut français de Tanger. Her practice uses voices, languages, soundscapes and field recordings to explore personal and collective stories. She moves between documentary radio, audio fiction, sound poetry and immersive installations, focusing on the relationship between people and the places they inhabit. The announced period is a professional artist residency, not a programme of public performances.
Artistic context
Born in Toulouse in 1984 and now based in Marseille, Despax is a member of the Atelier de Création Sonore et Radiophonique in Brussels. She has collaborated with cultural radio stations, museums and festivals internationally. Her research in northern Morocco connects the voices and musical practices of Tangier with contemporary radio creation. The Darkoum residency programme describes a related project, « Paroles de montagnes, chant de cabaret », developed with local singer Fadila Damej and Moroccan partners. This background does not establish a public schedule during the residency.
